Life

Oh my!  July has been such a busy month.  Between work, birthdays, wedding showers, etc., I have no time to do anything!  July 1 was my daddy's birthday, which I posted about here.  The 3rd, was my friend Aubri's birthday.  A big group of us met at Cantina Loredo for dinner, then me and Dus and Bruce and Aubri went bowling.  I haven't bowled in so long.  I did pretty good the first game, but on the second, I don't think I even scored till about the 4th or 5th round.  Ha!  Dusty ended up winning both games...You go boy ;o) 

We didn't do anything for the 4th.  We stayed home and relaxed!  On July 9, we had Haley and Corey's couple shower.  It turned out so great and everyone had a blast!  It was so much preparing and making sure we had enough food and things, but it was well worth it.  I was happy with the way it turned out and Corey and Haley had so much fun and got lots of goodies for their new home!

Being silly

That was such a fun night!

Ok, back to the long list of things that have been going on this month...On the 10th, we had to go to my cousin's son's 9th bday party.  The 12th was my birthday, so on the 11th my grandma cooked smothered steak, cabbage, rice/gravy, roasted potatoes, and rolls for me.  My whole family went over to eat.  It was so yummy.  Dusty had to work on my bday, so on that day, my mom came over and we ordered pizza.  I had River in the bed before 7 and I was in the bed before 9 on that night.  Wednesday, we went to Wendy's to celebrate my bday.  She cooked steak and red snapper with crab meat, twice bakes, and broccoli casserole.  OMG, talk about good!  Every time we go to their house, River has to go get in their shower and yell because it echos.  He had a blast in there singing and yelling.  He's so funny!  I had an eye exam on the 14th because I keep getting headaches...they said I have perfect vision and my eyes is not the cause of my headaches!  On the 16th, I celebrated by birthday with a few friends.  Me and Dus, Haley and Corey, and Bruce and Aubri went to Buffalo Wild Wings then went roller skating.  None of us had been since we were kids and it was so funny!  We had a good time, but after a few laps it gets kind of old.  Us girls got hit on by a 14 year old and 16 year old.  When we asked how old they thought we were, guess what he said?!?!  Haley was 26, Aubri 27, and me 23!!!  Um, thank you little boy!  That made my night being that I'm 28 and the oldest!  Haha. 

Sunday nights are for adults only.  We talked about making it a monthly thing for us to do. :o)

So now I believe I'm caught up!  Finally!  This is my last free weekend before I'm tied down with wedding stuff again, but that's ok.  It's fun!  I still have to get my dress altered, yikes, I'm pushing it close!  The wedding is August 14. 

Riverisms

River has been so funny and cute and sweet here lately.  I need to post them before I forget!

• He had his first x-ray on July 1.  While we were gone on vacation, we noticed that he walked with his right foot turned out sometimes.  The boy is already super duper flat footed (he gets it from his daddy), so I wanted to take him to the doctor to see what she said.  She wanted to get an x-ray to make sure there was no bone malformation.  My mom took him back to get the x-ray because I had to talk to the doctor, too.  Our dr is an Internal Med and Peds dr.  The x-ray came back normal, which we expected, it was just to make sure.  She said to wait till after Summer when he starts wearing regular tennis shoes more instead of sandals and it will probably correct itself.  ;o)
• His favorite animal here lately is the elephant.  He has a Baby Einstein video that has different animals on it and he loves the elephant.  Dusty has taught him to make the elephant noise and to wiggle his ears.  It is so funny!  Yesterday, we were watching Noddy and he asked who somebody was and I said Big Ears.  River wiggled his ears and made the elephant noise and I about died.  It was hilarious!
• He knows who Jason is!  I love Jason Aldean, and for a while now, every time a Jason song would come on the radio I'd say 'there's Jason'.  He would just look at me like 'Huh?'.  The other day we were driving down the road and My Kinda Party came on.  I didn't think about it and didn't say anything, then all the sudden River said 'Jason'!  Haha, made me smile!  Yesterday we watched 3 Jason music videos on the computer and he watched the entire time.

• When I put River to bed, I just stick him in his crib and turn a movie on.  Bad habit, I know, and when we convert his bed to a toddler bed, I'm going to lay there and read with him instead of let him watch TV, but for right now this works.  Anyway, he'll stand up in his bed and watch TV till he's ready to lay down, then he'll start crying for me.  I go in, lay him down on his pillow, cover him up tight, and give him his Gus dog, and kisses and say goodnite and sweet dreams, and he'll watch TV till he falls asleep.  Well, last night we did the whole routine.  I covered him up, said I love you, he said it back, I said sweet dreams, and walked out.  A few minutes later he yelled 'sweet dreams moma'!!  Awww, I melted.  I wanted to go grab him up and just squeeze him.  It was so sweet!

• I can't tell if River is going to be quite and shy like me or outspoken and wild and crazy.  I hope he is not shy and quiet like me!  When we're out in public, he will be so loud and say Hi to everybody and he tries to touch everybody.  He's super friendly.  But, when we're around people we know, our friends and family and even teachers at school, he just gets shy and won't speak.  Hum??
• His new favorite thing to do is line all of his trucks, trains, and tractors up to make a big long train.  He does this on the floor and couch.  He will push me out of the way on the couch so he can make his train.

Daddy's Birthday

July 1 was my daddy's birthday.  We had a little get together at my house with my parents, my grandma, the bros, and Kasen.  Dusty grilled hot dogs and hamburgers and I made brownies because I didn't have a cake mix.  It was fun.  We stayed outside all evening and just enjoyed visiting.

Captain Johnson

My hubby is finally a captain!  Woo hoo!!  I'm so happy for him!  I took these pics the morning before his first shift as captain.

Haley's Bridal Shower

Haley's Bridal Shower was June 26.  It was at her aunt's house and was super cute.  She got tons of gifts, too!  I love the dishes she picked out.

The day before the shower, me and Haley shopped and shopped and shopped for her a dress to wear to the shower.  We went to every place we knew of and it was exhausting! We did not find one single thing that she liked.  Haley is so tiny and has a hard time finding cute clothes that fit her, and someone say picky.  It was a Saturday and all the little boutiques closed at either 5 or 6, and it was 5, so we started heading back home and I remembered one more place we could try that was on our way home.  We got there at 5:30, they closed at 6:00 thank goodness, and we found the perfect dress!  It was a little big, but she pinned it up and it worked.  Love the dress!  We should've stopped there first since we passed it first.  Ha!  Anyway, we had fun hanging out and talking.  River was with us part of the time, but he was getting a little ancy doing all that shopping so I dropped him off at my grandma's for a bit so we could finish.

The Buffalo River

We've been back from our vacay for about a week and a half now.  River did A.Ma.Zing on his first vacation.  I was really proud of him!  We had a 6.5-7 hour drive there and back and River was sooo good in the car!  Dusty bought him some portable DVD players right before we left and River just thought that was the coolest thing!

We had a good time, even though I was whiny and ready to go home at times ;o).  It was just so nice being away from home for a few days!  We relaxed, floated down the river, swam, ate some yummy food, and, of course, chased River around everywhere.  Ha!  That boy stayed on his 4-wheeler.  He had a blast!  Heck, why wouldn't he...he was outside pretty much 24/7 the whole trip!  Here are a few pictures, and I'll just let them do the talking....

The first evening there, we took a "short" float down the River.  It was supposed to be only about 30 minutes, but since the water was so low and there wasn't a good current, it took about 2 hours.  It was still fun though!  That was River's first time to go and I had a waterproof disposable camera (I haven't bought one of those in years!!!), and of course they're not developed yet and I still have pics to take on it.  So, these next pics are from the second day.  It was a 7 hour float...whew!  It was fun and relaxing, but I was still sooo tired by the end of it.  Ha!  River was a pro in these :o)  And, I brought my good camera because Corky let me borrow his waterproof box!!

We got home last Tuesday and was so great to be home!  I was off Wednesday, but had to go back to work Thursday...ugh!  I should have taken the whole week off.  Next time I will ;o)
