Dinosaurs, hats, & boots

This little boy has been such a mess lately!  He's growing up way too fast, and he has major attitude!  Ha!  Gotta love that sweet face, tho!  He has been on a dinosaur kick for a little over a week now.  He walked in the kitchen one morning stomping his feet and roaring and I asked him what he was doing.  He said "I'm a dinosaur".  OH!  I didn't even know he knew the word dinosaur.  Ha!  But, I thought it was cute and sweet.  Well, that night, he was scared of the dinosaur and has been ever since.  He has not fallen asleep in his own bed since then and everyday he will mention the dinosaur being mean or getting him or 'bite me'!  I've told him there is no dino, I threw it in the trash, it's outside, he's not mean, and even that it's at Nana's house.  He don't care, he still thinks it's mean.  I really hope this passes quickly!!

His Nana got him these blue rubber boots the other day.  He LOVES them!  He wears them all.the.time!  Lol!  All day long I hear "where's my boots at?", "my boots fell off", "my boots".

He is also loving daddy's hats and his fire man helmets.  If he has a hat on, it automatically goes on backwards.  I love it!  He looks so stinkin' cute!!  He got one of his helmets from daddy's work and the other from school when the fire truck came for fire prevention month last month.  He's pretty much always got one on his head!

I love that lil booger so much!!

Also...He tee teed in the potty for the very first time at school last week!!   Yay!  I told the teacher who he did it for that she is going to have to come to my house and make him go because he will not do it for me!  Honey got him some Mickey Mouse underwear we're gonna try out this week.  I knew this would be the hardest thing of all.  He was so easy weaning off the paci and bottle and stuff.  I bribe this kid with everything...M&Ms, toys, going outside, riding the 4-wheeler...and he does nothing.  Oh boy!

Riverisms ~

A few things I want to remember about River ~
  •  We've been trying to get on the potty training bandwagon...not working out so good.  He will sit on the potty, but he will not go in it!  He wakes up most mornings dry and I'll go put him on the potty because surely he has to go right away, and nothing!
  • The few nights ago, I thought I smelled a stinky so I asked River "did you poo poo?"  He replied "no moma".  So I said okay, maybe he just tooted.  I walked passed him again and said "What stinks?".  He said "not me!".  Oh, yes it was him!!
  • Still loving Mickey Mouse!  Still watches it every single night!  The other evening I had it playing in his room and he would go back and forth from his bedroom to the living room playing.  Everytime Hot Dog came on, he'd holler at me "come on moma, come on".  I'd run back there and we'd dance and sing.  So fun :o)
  • Boopy "Goofy" is his favorite!  That's what he is being for Halloween!!!
  • He made his first trip to the deer lease on Sunday.  We rode the 4-wheeler and put corn out.  He loved it, of course! (pics soon)
  • We went to our first pumpkin carving party on Saturday.  It was at Haley's house.  River hardly participated, but I had a blast!  lol.  We carved none other than an LSU pumpkin!!!!

  • Everytime he goes into a different room than me or Dusty he says "be back in a minute."
  • He calls Haley's dog Copper, "Popper".  He loves him some Popper!
  • If he wants a bite of something, he'll say "I want some" in the cutest little voice.  I'm gonna have to film his saying it.  It's so sweet and funny!
  • TMI --- River is ALL boy!  He loves to poot!  Mostly because when he does it, Dusty and I will laugh and/or say "quit pooting" and he'll crack up and keep doing it.  He can do it pretty much on demand (Dusty doing the demanding, I'm telling him to stop it!).  It is pretty funny sometimes tho!
  • His afternoon teacher asked me yesterday does River share? I told her he doesn't have anybody to share with, so no.  Apparently, he is not sharing his toys at school and makes everybody get away from him when he is playing.  Oh boy!
That's all I got for now.  He just keeps growing and changing every day.  I love him to pieces!!!

Catch up

I can't believe it has been so long since I've talked about what we've been up to.  Life has been super busy, it did not slow down after the wedding in August like I was expecting.  Ha!  I've gotten to the point lately that I'm on the computer all day at work, I don't feel like getting on it at home.  Especially now that I've got my iphone :(  Anyhoo, I've got to try to remember what all we've done these past couple of months...

First, here are some pictures from my birthday dinner at my grandmas...

  • These pictures are from the night Randy and Rhonda took me and Dus to eat at Ernests.

  • Dusty has been going to the lease more and more.  First it was dove season, then teal, and now this weekend, bow season starts.  Whoopie!  :)
  • Me and Dusty celebrated our 5th anniversary on Sept 9.  We had a really nice dinner then went down to the boardwalk and walked around.  It was a nice date nite with my hunny!

I had Haley go to our house while we were gone and decorate the room.  Hehe!  I got Dusty a 'giftcard' for a skydiving trip because he's always said he wanted to skydive.  I just knew he would love it and it would be a great surprise.  But, the more I thought about it, I wasn't so sure if he would really like it or not (bc he NEVER likes anything I get him), so I came up with the idea of making a fake giftcard.  It looked so ligit and it was the perfect plan.  Well, he opened it and looked at me like I was crazy!  Needless to say, I'm so glad I got him the fake one and didn't waste my money on a real one!  He told he wants to skydive "before I die!!!!"  Not anytime soon!

  • The weekend after our anniversary, we celebrated a friend's 30th birthday.  It was a surprise party at a BBQ place and it was fun.  Dusty had to work, so I rode with Corey and Haley.

Some of us girls...me, Aubri, Haley, and Kristen

  • Brandy's baby shower was Sunday after Jonathan's bday party.  It was a really cute shower.  I'll have to get pics later!
  • We took River to his first rodeo on a Friday nite.  The thing didn't start till 8:00 p.m. (that is too late for River).  He was such a terd when we first got there.  He was making me a nervous wreck in the bleachers!  Finally, he started settling down and getting tired and he just sat in either mine or my mom's lap.  Me, moma, Kasen and River went.  I think he liked it ok!  Maybe he'll be a calf roper or something :o)

Sweet boy with his hand over his heart for the National Anthem.  Excuse me...I was trying to NOT be in the pic!

Two of my favorite boys!

Me and my boo!

Yes, this is a real bull.  His name was Blue Duck.  River was super tired by this point, so he didn't really participate or look at the camera very good.  He wasn't scared though, so that was awesome!

  • Last Saturday we celebrated Randy's birthday.  Rhonda made brisket and twice bakes and baked beans.  It was delish!  Today is his bday, so Happy Birthday Papaw!!!
Levi and River helping Papaw blow out the candles

That about sums up our September.  I know I'm forgetting some things.  Next on our agenda - Bunco, Dusty's bday, garage sale, cousin party, couple's bunco, corn maze, and fair!  I can't wait.  I love the fall and all the activities that come with it!  It's my favorite ;o)  Oh yeah, LSU is 4-0 and in the #1 spot.  Geaux Tigers!!  Until next time...Goodnite!

Fall is almost here

I have tried so hard all summer not to complain about the heat because I really really dislike the cold and would much rather it be 110 degrees than 40 degrees.  I've done pretty good about not complaining.  Now that the summer is coming to an end and fall is right around the corner, I am starting to get a little excited!  I do love the fall, I'm just not looking forward to the cold.  I have a feeling we're going to have a pretty rough winter.

This weekend in the opening weekend for College Ball!  Yay!!  LSU plays Oregon at the new Dallas Stadium.

I found this online and think it's hilarious!

I'm so excited to get my game gear on and watch the game!

Also since fall is so near, I'm getting excited about the fall smells, soups, pumpkin patches, and my favorite holiday...Halloween!  I have in mind what I'm gonna dress River up as, but I'm not sure about it yet.  It may be my last chance to dress him up as what I want him to be before starts making his own decisions, which I may or may not let him do!

Speaking of my River Bug, I have started trying to introduce the potty to him.  At first, he wanted nothing to do with it.  He didn't want to sit on it or anything.  Now, I can get him to sit on it, but that's about all he does.  I've thrown in some cheerios and told him to tee tee on them, but he just tries to grab them.  When he's sitting on the potty, he'll say 'come on tee tee'.  Haha!  I even pour a little warm water down his back or front when I have him on the potty before bath time because he tee tees every single time I put him in the bath even if he just got off the potty.  He doesn't like it when I do that, ha!  I bought an Elmo Goes Potty DVD the other day now every time he sees a potty no matter where we are, he says he's got to go and wants to sit on it.  He really doesn't have to go and most of the time I tell him no, but should I really just sit him on it anyway?  And, when am I supposed to start buying pull-ups?  Now, when we're in the process of learning how to go or when he actually starts to go?  Pull-ups are expensive and I hate to waste em!

He is growing like a weed!  His talking is starting to get a little better, too.  His favorite things right now is "moma's bed" (he loves to go get on my bed!  Sometimes, I'll be in the living room or kitchen and I go to check on River and he's sitting on my bed with a book or watching TV), 4-wheelers and lawn mowers and fire trucks (every fire truck is daddy's fire truck), elephants, Mickey Mouse, and hot dogs!  Oh, he also has been singing so much here lately.  He will find whatever he can and pretend its a microphone and just sing (nothing in particular, just making a lot of noises and yelling) at the top of his lungs.  It's pretty funny!  My baby boy is turning into such a big boy.  *tear!

Date Night

Last night, me and my  mom had a date night.  We ate at Chick-fil-a, then went to see The Help.  Such a great movie!  I bawled, of course, and my eyes were all puffy this morning.  I am definitely going to buy this movie when it comes out.  Some of the ladies in the movie were just so mean and I cannot comprehend that.  It was awful the way they treated the maids.  I believe I would definitely be like Skeeter if I had lived in that time era.  And little Mae Mobley, she was precious and loved her Aibi.

You is kind.  You is smart.  You is important.

Great date with my moma ;o)

Wedding Weekend, part 2

The Big Day, all of us girls met at Good Eats for lunch then went to the hair salon.  We brought our drinks in there with us ;o)  We all met up at the church to get ready and take pics.  I was starving to death by the time of the ceremony!  I finally ate after 7:00 at the reception.  The reception was a lot of fun!  They had an awesome band playing, The Groove Agents, and the food was good, the company was good.  River was there with all of his grandparents and he was running around like crazy!  There were a couple of little girls who were dancing on the dance floor and River would just stand there and watch them.  Finally, they pulled him out there and they all held hands in a circle and danced.  The reception was over at 11, then a few of us went on the boat to do a little gambling.  Haley, Dusty, and Kristen all walked out ahead!  Yay!  We did not get home till 3 in tha mornin'!!  Ugh, I was exhausted.  But, it was a great day with great friends who I wish a lifetime of happiness!!
